Masko in OpenClaw
OpenClaw connects to Masko's MCP server and can then create a mascot, animate it and export the files, from any chat app OpenClaw answers in.
Connect Masko
OpenClaw signs in to Masko, so nobody copies a key.
- Save the server:
openclaw mcp set masko '{"url":"https://masko.ai/api/mcp","transport":"streamable-http","auth":"oauth"}'- Sign in:
openclaw mcp login maskoOpen the link it prints, choose the workspace whose credits OpenClaw will use and click Connect Masko. The page then says Authorization received.
- Check the connection:
openclaw mcp probe maskoOpenClaw prints masko: followed by the number of tools it found.
- Restart the gateway so your chats get the tools:
openclaw gateway restart.
OpenClaw waits for Masko's answer on the computer that runs it, so open the link there. On a machine without a browser, run openclaw mcp login masko --code <code> with the code from the address the browser lands on.
Generation spends the credits of the workspace you chose. Only a team owner or admin can connect a team workspace.
Use an API key instead
- On masko.ai, open Developers → API keys, choose Create API key, name it OpenClaw and keep Read + Write. Copy the key: it is shown once.
- Add
MASKO_API_KEY=masko_YOUR_KEYto~/.openclaw/.env, the file OpenClaw reads its secrets from. - Save the server with a header that points at the key, so the key never sits in your config:
openclaw mcp set masko '{"url":"https://masko.ai/api/mcp","transport":"streamable-http","headers":{"Authorization":"Bearer ${MASKO_API_KEY}"}}'Use openclaw mcp set rather than openclaw mcp add here: add checks the server before it fills in ${MASKO_API_KEY}, so Masko refuses the check and the server is not saved.
Choose the tools
Hide tools you do not want OpenClaw to use, for example everything that buys credits:
openclaw mcp tools masko --exclude 'create_credit_checkout,get_credit_checkout'openclaw mcp tools masko --clear brings them all back.
Try it
From the terminal:
openclaw agent --local -m "Show my Masko credit balance. Don't generate anything."Or ask in any chat OpenClaw answers in:
- "Show my Masko credit balance. Don't generate anything."
- "Create a cat mascot for my bakery's chat. Tell me the cost before generating."
- "Animate the cat waving and send me the video link."
What OpenClaw can do
- Create a mascot, its poses and its animations.
- Make talking animations and backgrounds.
- Build a canvas, the mascot's states and the moments that switch between them.
- Check a job until its files are ready, then export and publish them.
- Read your credit balance and open a credit checkout link.
Costs
Generation uses credits from the Masko workspace you connected. Ask for the estimated cost before generating: the estimate tools return it before anything is spent. Reading, listing and checking jobs are free.
Limits
- The connection allows 120 requests per minute.
- New mascots made through the MCP server start with public CDN hosting off. Publish the mascot's assets before sharing CDN links.
Security
- OpenClaw keeps its Masko sign-in in its own state folder, and
openclaw mcp showhides credentials. With a key, create one just for OpenClaw, so you can revoke it on its own. - To remove access, run
openclaw mcp unset masko, then disconnect OpenClaw in Connected apps or revoke its key in Developers → API keys.
