Masko for Cursor

Use Masko from Cursor to create a character for your product, animate an existing mascot, and integrate the finished assets into your codebase.

Connect your account

The plugin contains four skills and a connection to Masko's hosted MCP server. Once installed, enable Masko in Cursor's Customize page and connect the MCP server. Sign in on masko.ai, choose your personal or team workspace, and approve access. No API key is needed. Local plugin installation is described in the plugin package's README; directory availability depends on marketplace review.

To configure only the MCP connection, add this server to Cursor's MCP settings:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "masko": {
      "url": "https://masko.ai/api/mcp",
      "auth": {
        "CLIENT_ID": "https://masko.ai/oauth/clients/cursor",
        "scopes": ["masko:read", "masko:write"]
      }
    }
  }
}

The client ID is public configuration and serves a JSON client metadata document. It is not a credential. Cursor handles the OAuth connection. Installing this MCP configuration alone does not install the four workflow skills. You can disconnect through Masko's Settings → Connected apps. Team connections require an active owner or admin membership.

Start with your existing work

Try: “Show my Masko projects, mascots and credit balance. Don't generate anything.”

Then choose a workflow:

SkillExample prompt
Create a mascot“Create a friendly fox for my fitness app. Show me the cost first.”
Animate a mascot“Animate my existing mascot waving hello.”
Build interactions“Make it celebrate a completed lesson, then return to idle.”
Integrate assets“Add these animations to this React project without flickering between clips.”

Images and animations use the connected workspace's Masko credits. Cursor's subscription does not include Masko credits. Review the cost before generation. When you ask to buy more credits, the plugin can return a Stripe checkout link; you complete payment yourself. Team purchases require the team owner.

Use your own character

Reuse a saved Masko image, supply a downloadable attachment if the host supports it, or provide an HTTPS image URL. URL imports accept PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF up to 10 MB. Private network addresses and local filesystem paths cannot be fetched by the hosted server.

For an image stored only in your local project, upload it on masko.ai first, then ask Cursor to find the saved asset. Attaching an image to a Cursor chat does not guarantee that Cursor can give Masko a download URL. The plugin must not publish local artwork to another service without your permission.

Put the result into your product

Generation and exports run asynchronously. The agent checks the job and retrieves completed assets. The integration skill reads the platform guide and writes HTML, React, Swift/SwiftUI or Android playback code in your project.

A single looping clip uses a simple player. Switching animations uses two persistent players so the current frame remains visible until the next clip is ready. Available transparent formats depend on the asset and target platform.

New mascots are private. Preview URLs expire. For a public website, explicitly request public asset hosting, or serve private delivery through your backend. Keep Masko authoring credentials out of frontend code. This plugin does not activate the Masko Desktop companion or deploy your app.

Support

If tools are missing, check that the Masko MCP server is enabled and authorized in Cursor. Reconnect through OAuth rather than pasting credentials into chat. Contact paul@masko.ai with the request or job ID if an operation fails.
