THE LITTLE DETAILS
A few questions.
What are the mouth shapes for lip sync?
Nine shapes cover most speech: A and I, E, O, U, the teeth shape for C D G K N R S T Y Z, F and V, L, M B P, and W and Q. A rest mouth sits between words.
How do I use the chart?
Say the line slowly and note its sounds. Draw the matching shape for each one, about two frames each at 24 fps, and go back to rest between words.
Why does a typed line skip letters?
Animators draw sounds, not letters. Doubled letters make one shape, and letters that share a shape, like s and t, hold it.
Can Masko make my character talk?
Yes. Masko Studio makes a talking animation of your character from a voice: 11 credits for 5 seconds.
