A ref sheet made with this maker
Juniper was drawn in Masko Studio: the front first, then the side, the back and three faces from that one picture. The maker laid them out and read the palette from the art.
How it works
- 01
Add your pictures
Front, side, back and up to three expressions. PNG, JPG or WebP, with transparency kept.
- 02
Name it and add notes
The palette comes from your pictures as hex codes. Remove a colour or add your own.
- 03
Download the PNG
2400 x 1350, on white, paper or dark. The small masko.ai line at the bottom can be turned off.
What goes on a character reference sheet
A ref sheet, or OC reference sheet, is one page that lets anyone draw your character the same way every time: an artist you commission, a friend, or you in six months.
Views
Front, side and back show the shape all the way round. This is the turnaround: the part artists check first.
Expressions
Three faces are enough to show how the character smiles, worries and gets cross. Use the slots under the views.
Palette
Hex codes stop the colours drifting from one drawing to the next. The maker reads them from your pictures, and you can fix them.
Notes
Short lines about what is easy to get wrong: which ear is bent, how many stripes, what it never wears.
