THE LITTLE DETAILS

A few questions.

How do I add a GIF to my email signature?

The GIF has to live online, because a signature only points to it. Upload it to your website or to a file host that gives a public link. In Gmail, open Settings, then Signature, press Insert image, choose Web address (URL) and paste that link. In Outlook, insert the picture in the signature editor, or paste the HTML from this page where your signature takes HTML.

Will the GIF move in every email app?

Gmail, Apple Mail, and Outlook on the web and on phones play it. Older Outlook for Windows shows only the first frame, so pick a first frame that reads on its own.

How big should an email signature GIF be?

Show it 100 to 150 px wide and keep the file under 1 MB. The maker draws it at twice that width so it stays sharp on retina screens, and lowers colours and frames until it fits.

Why does my GIF show a light edge in dark mode?

A GIF pixel is either clear or solid, so soft edges are blended with a colour. Give the GIF the background colour of your emails, usually white, and dark mode shows a neat card instead of a fringe.

Is my logo uploaded?

No. The GIF is made in your browser, and the link and alt text you type stay there too.
